Yes, you can! I know you may be smiling and rolling your eyes reading the above title. The fact is I have been around long enough to know these expectations called resolutions, while sincere, hardly make it past the third week of January. This time it’s different.
What if I were to tell you there IS a way to come MORE alive in “25” and beyond? I have the “secret.”
The “new beginnings” photo is spot on for this article. The obvious rings of time are etched within the weathered tree trunk telling the story of its long and sometimes difficult life. Emerging from the weathered trunk is a seedling, new life. With that new seedling comes a promise, endless possibilities maybe even a stronger tree. Many of us, like that tree trunk, have weathered storms that could have smothered our souls and left us empty. Like that new seedling in the photo, we used the energy of the tree trunk’s organic nutrients to heal, grow and rediscover ourselves. That tree trunk comparison is a metaphor for using our past experiences to heal, build and grow. Weathering through the storms and discovering your inner strength is the foundation for moving forward.
The “secret” to coming more alive in “25” and beyond is in developing a strong personal mental fitness mindset. A “Mental Fitness Mindset” involves viewing your brain as a “muscle” that requires deliberate training and exercise to maintain a positive psychological well-being. Like physical fitness, mental fitness requires exercises to strengthen “neural pathways” of the brain to help manage emotions and develop a strong emotional resilience to navigate through life’s challenges. And believe me, those challenges will come. Being prepared is the key.
